The Jericho Community

Together, we have faith

Jesus among the people

JERICHO  -  Jesus among the people

The fullness of Jericho's charism is still emerging.  Always has the community recognised that it has been called by the Spirit to be 'Jesus among the people'.

Its 'modas operandi' has been to open houses for the destitute and distressed, its inspiration from the beginning being the compassion of Jesus as exemplified in the parable of the Good Samaritan, and simply by a life of humble service to preach the silent sermon of the love of Jesus for those in its care, and to witness thereby before the world to the love of Jesus for the poor.

The community's social charism will always be service of those being passed by on the other side, but now, with a growing sense of its own identity, the community is becoming more outward and more open, open to the Spirit, open to the World, open to new ideas.  Other forms of being compassionate Jesus among the people are suggesting themeselves.

Vocations Visitors

For any men who may be reflecting on the possibility that God might be calling them to a life with the Jericho Community, we have a guesthouse.

At our Monastery near Kilbarchan you can stay between Monday and Friday (unfortunately not at weekends) and you can experience our way of life,  share in our prayer and meals and get to see some of our Jericho houses too.

Candidates must be practicing Catholics and single.

If things bear fruit, we would ask for a reference from your local priest and if you should come to try your vocation with us at some point, we would also request you to provide a background check as our work involves working with vulnerable adults.

May the good Lord bless you and guide you in your discernment.
